Thorns is a collection of jewellery comprised of earrings and a pendant. Made in silver with mounted sapphires, zirconias and kyanites which resemble the shape of fish-bones.
The collection is intended to give pause and reflect on the consequences that man made pollution has caused on the oceanic ecosystems.
The designs blend the raw beauty of dead wildlife, represented by fish-bones as a symbol of the thousands of species of fish, birds and mammals that die each year as a consequence of the effects of pollution, with a stylism inspired by fine and fashion jewellery to create an appealing and modern piece of jewellery that stands out for its quality and finishes.
DESIRÉ NADAL · PANCONCHOCOLATE
This project is born from the need to imbue jewellery with an added value that may contribute to society’s welfare. By means of molecular cooking, one of children’s most common dishes in every household is being represented here: chocolate with bread.
The pieces that make up the collection have been designed having in mind two basic ideas: its ergonomic features and its functionality as an eating tool. The collection has been inspired by kitchenware such as measuring spoons, skimming spoons, colanders, spoons, plates, mugs, cups, glasses and straws. The basic crafting material used has been silver since other metals like alpaca wool, brass and zamak are not recommended because of its toxicity and because, in the past, it was widely used in silverware, cutlery and cups.
